Strip Metadata from Screenshots
Screenshots carry more than pixels: the capturing device, the operating system, the software version and often a timestamp. Remove those fields before you post a screenshot.

Every tracking and provenance segment is stripped; ICC color profiles are preserved.
Write a fresh Make, Model and ISO block into every cleaned image.

How It Works
- 1
Drop a screenshot; the parser reads the PNG text chunks or JPEG EXIF block.
- 2
The inspector lists the software, device and timestamp fields it finds.
- 3
Annihilation mode removes every metadata segment while preserving the image data.
- 4
Clean and download a screenshot with no capture details attached.
Binary Format Breakdown
| Segment | Carries | Action |
|---|---|---|
| PNG tEXt / iTXt | Software, device name, capture timestamp | Whole text chunks dropped |
| PNG eXIf | An embedded EXIF block on some platforms | Rewritten in place or dropped whole |
| JPEG APP1 (EXIF) | Device model, software version, timestamp | Segment rewritten or dropped whole |
Frequently Asked Questions
Do screenshots really contain metadata?
Yes. Many operating systems and apps write the software name, device model and a capture timestamp into the screenshot file.
Will cleaning blur or alter the screenshot?
No. Only metadata is removed; the pixels are copied verbatim, so text and UI elements stay sharp.
Does this remove the visible content?
No. This tool removes hidden metadata only. Anything visible in the screenshot remains in the image.
