PNG tEXt, zTXt & iTXt Metadata Cleaner

PNG files store text metadata in tEXt, zTXt and iTXt chunks. Remove them all in one pass while keeping the iCCP color profile so the image still renders correctly.

Cleaning profile

Every tracking and provenance segment is stripped; ICC color profiles are preserved.

Write a fresh Make, Model and ISO block into every cleaned image.

No images queued

Add JPEG, PNG or WebP images above to build a batch. You can queue 30+ files and clean them all at once.

How It Works

  1. 1

Drop a PNG; the chunk walker reads every tEXt, zTXt and iTXt chunk.

  2. 2

Compressed zTXt and iTXt payloads are inflated so their keywords and values can be shown.

  3. 3

Annihilation mode is on, so every text chunk is removed while iCCP is preserved.

  4. 4

Clean and download a PNG with no text metadata left.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between tEXt, zTXt and iTXt?

tEXt stores plain text, zTXt stores deflate-compressed text, and iTXt stores international text that may include a language tag. All three share the same leading keyword.

Will removing text chunks affect the colors?

No. The iCCP color profile is a separate chunk and is always preserved, so the image renders with the same colors.

Can the tool read compressed chunks?

Yes. zTXt and iTXt payloads are inflated with the browser's DecompressionStream, with a deflate-raw fallback for older browsers.
