Remove Date Taken & Timestamp Metadata from Photos

Every photo records the exact date and time it was captured. Remove the DateTimeOriginal, CreateDate and ModifyDate tags so a shared image no longer reveals when it was taken.

How It Works

  1. 1

Drop a photo; the EXIF parser decodes the date and time tags from the IFD.

  2. 2

The inspector shows DateTimeOriginal, CreateDate and ModifyDate with their raw values.

  3. 3

Timestamp metadata is pre-selected so the date tags are removed while device and GPS are kept.

  4. 4

Clean and download a copy with no capture date left in the file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which timestamp tags are removed?

The capture and edit dates — DateTimeOriginal, CreateDate and ModifyDate — plus sub-second time fields, all of which live in the EXIF IFD.

Does the file system date change?

No. This tool only rewrites metadata inside the image file. The created and modified dates your operating system shows are separate and untouched.

Can I keep the date but remove GPS?

Yes. This route selects only timestamps; use the GPS route or uncheck timestamps and check GPS to target location instead.
